Materials and process: Mixed media on stretched canvas, created entirely by hand using acrylic paint, acrylic markers and oil pastels.

Artist statement:
"A Sense of Place" celebrates the everyday objects, memories and experiences that shape our connection to where we live. Through colour, pattern and personal symbolism, this still life brings together native flora, coastal references, Australian icons and treasured objects that reflect a journey of observation, belonging and discovery.

Inspired by my experience of living in and continually discovering the Pilbara, this work explores the relationship between place, memory and identity. Each object represents a moment, a story or a connection, creating a visual narrative that reflects both personal experience and the process of making a home in a new environment. Through vibrant colour, pattern and composition, I aim to create a sense of curiosity, warmth and familiarity.

Care and display instructions:
This artwork should be displayed indoors, away from direct sunlight, excessive humidity and extreme temperatures. Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. The artwork is ready to hang.

Handmade characteristics:
This is an original, one-of-a-kind artwork created entirely by hand. Variations in brushwork, texture, colour application and surface details are intentional and form part of the unique character of the piece.
