1. What We Do

About Pilbara Art Collective

Pilbara Art Collective (PAC) is a curated platform that celebrates the artists, makers, galleries, Aboriginal art centres and creative professionals who contribute to the cultural life of the Pilbara.

We exist to build meaningful connections between artists, communities and audiences — not simply to run another marketplace. We bring together a Marketplace, Artist Profiles, a Creative Directory and the Pilbara Art Map into one connected platform, so that visibility, discovery and storytelling work together rather than living on scattered websites and social pages.

PAC is independent and community-minded. We don’t compete with the galleries, art centres and organisations already doing great work across the region — we connect and promote them.

Our Services

Marketplace & Artist Profiles — A curated online shop for original art and handmade work with a genuine connection to the Pilbara, paired with a dedicated profile page for each artist’s story and practice. Artists set their own prices and are paid directly.

Creative Directory — A directory of artists, galleries, art centres, educators, photographers, designers and other creative professionals.

Pilbara Art Map — An interactive map for discovering galleries, public art, studios and creative experiences across the region.

Storytelling & Promotion — Artist interviews, features and marketing across PAC’s website, social media and newsletters.

Future initiatives — Online exhibitions, artist talks and community-led projects, developed as the Collective grows.

Who Can Join

We welcome artists, makers, galleries, Aboriginal art centres, creative organisations and creative professionals with a genuine connection to the Pilbara — whether through living in the region, having lived there, family or cultural ties, or work meaningfully inspired by its landscapes, stories and communities.

This spans painters, ceramicists, sculptors, photographers, printmakers, textile and fibre artists, jewellers, glass artists, woodworkers, mixed media and digital artists, illustrators, public artists, designers, workshop facilitators, arts educators, curators, arts consultants, and Aboriginal art centres, galleries and community arts groups.

2. How We Work

Our Approach

Everything PAC does is guided by a simple set of commitments:

Creativity — every creative journey is valued, from established practice to a first public piece.

Community & collaboration — we connect people and celebrate shared success over competition.

Respect & authenticity — genuine stories, cultural integrity and professionalism in every relationship.

Curiosity & stewardship — we stay open to new ideas and make thoughtful, long-term decisions on behalf of the community we serve.

Partnership Options

There’s no single way to be part of PAC — you can take up one initiative or several, and there’s no expectation to be involved in all of them:

Marketplace & Artist Profile — sell original art and handmade work, with your story and practice showcased alongside it. These come as a package, not separate options.

Creative Directory — list your services without necessarily selling through the Marketplace.

Pilbara Art Map — be discovered as a creative destination or experience.

Future opportunities — exhibitions, projects and campaigns as they’re introduced.

Founding & Standard Partners

Founding Partners are those who join during PAC’s establishment phase. As thanks for that early support, approved Founding Partners keep the partnership rate that applied when they joined, for as long as their partnership stays active. Founding Partnership is available for a limited time and will close once this establishment phase ends.

Standard Partners join after that period, with full access to the same platform and community. If fees or commission rates change in future, changes apply only to Standard Partners — Founding partners keep the rate they joined at

Fees & Commission

Commission is only charged when an artwork sells through the Marketplace. Partnership fees and commission are reinvested in maintaining the platform, promoting artists and developing new initiatives.

Self-Managed means the gallery maintains its own listings and inventory. Collective-Managed means PAC handles listing, inventory and coordinating collection and shipment on the gallery’s behalf — designed for organisations with limited staffing or volunteer resources.

No Lock-in Contracts

We believe strong partnerships are built on trust, not obligation — so there are no lock-in contracts. You’re free to keep selling through galleries, exhibitions, markets, festivals and your own website while part of PAC.

The only ask: if a buyer discovers and purchases your work through PAC, we ask that the sale be completed through PAC, so the agreed commission can go back into supporting the platform and the wider creative community.

How We Curate

PAC is a curated platform, not an open listing site — every application is reviewed individually. We consider:

     Your connection to the Pilbara.

The originality and authenticity of your work.

The quality and presentation of your practice.

     Alignment with PAC’s values.

     Completeness of your application.

Curation isn’t about creating barriers — decades of experience and a first-time public artist are equally welcome. It’s about maintaining trust with visitors and making sure the platform reflects the real creative diversity of the region.

3. Seller Guide

This section is your practical, step-by-step reference for selling through the PAC Marketplace.

Setting Up Your Profile

Your profile is often a visitor’s first introduction to you. Write in your own voice — authenticity connects better than polish. Include:

     Your artist or business name.

A short biography and your connection to the Pilbara.

Your creative practice and preferred mediums.

     What inspires your work.

Links to your website or social media (if applicable).

     A profile photo or logo.

Revisit and update it as your practice evolves.

Listing Your Work

Each listing should include a clear title, description, accurate dimensions, materials, retail price and high-quality photographs — plus care instructions or edition details where relevant. Complete, accurate listings reduce back-and-forth enquiries and keep the platform looking professional.

Writing Descriptions

Buyers connect with the story behind a piece, not just the object. A few genuine paragraphs, in your own voice, covering:

The inspiration or place behind the work.

     Materials and techniques used.

Whether it’s functional, decorative, or both.

     Any special care requirements.

Keep it short — a few honest paragraphs outperform a long one.

Photography

Your photos are usually a buyer’s first impression. Where possible:

Shoot in clear, natural light with a clean background.

     Represent colour and texture accurately.

Show multiple angles and close-up detail shots.

Include scale where it helps the buyer.

Add a lifestyle shot for ceramics, homewares or sculptural work.

Professional photography helps but isn’t required — natural light and a tidy setup go a long way.

Pricing

You set your own prices — PAC doesn’t prescribe how to value your work. Consider materials, time, experience and originality. Where practical, keep pricing consistent across all the channels you sell through; it builds buyer confidence and avoids awkward comparisons.

Shipping

You’re responsible for packaging your work safely unless another arrangement is agreed. Packaging should suit the size, weight and fragility of the piece — recycled materials are welcome if they still protect the work and present it well. Dispatch promptly, and flag any expected delays. Large, fragile or site-specific works may need specialised freight — note this in your listing.

Payments

Payment is processed securely through the platform. When a sale completes, PAC’s commission is deducted automatically and the balance is paid directly to your nominated Stripe or PayPal account — no invoicing required. Keep your account details current to avoid payment delays.

Staying Professional

A few habits that keep the platform working well for everyone:

Keep listings accurate — update or remove them promptly if a piece sells elsewhere.

Respond to enquiries and orders promptly; flag delays early.

Package thoughtfully and present work professionally.

Every positive experience reflects on both you and PAC as a whole.

Copyright & Cultural Protocols

You retain copyright over your own work. By listing through PAC, you give permission for your supplied images and information to be used to promote you, your work and PAC across its marketing channels — this doesn’t transfer ownership.

You’re responsible for ensuring your work is original, or that you hold the right permissions where it involves collaborative practice, licensed material or cultural knowledge. Where cultural permissions are required — including for Aboriginal cultural content — these must be sought and confirmed before publication or sale.

Seller FAQs

Do I have to sell through the Marketplace to be included in the Creative DIrectory?

No — you can join the Creative Directory without selling.

Can I keep selling elsewhere?

When do I get paid?

Automatically, once a sale completes — commission is deducted and the balance goes straight to your nominated Stripe or PayPal account.

Can I update my listings anytime?

Yes, and we encourage it as your practice evolves.

Are there lock-in contracts?

No.
